There’s nothing like a good day at the beach, but what you take can make the difference between a good day and an amazing day. This Beach Packing List will help you out with packing all the things you need to make your next visit to the beach the best day out at the beach ever.
Table of Contents
Shade
If you intent to spend a big part of the day or the full day at the beach, having the shade of a beach shelter is a must to get a break and some relief from the sun. There are lots of different beach shade types around but the umbrella cabanas are super popular because they are easy to put up, have good wind resistance, pack away easily and are compact to carry and store. Check out the range and specials on Beach Cabanas and Beach Shelters at Catch.
Beach Chairs
Having a nice comfy beach chair to sit up and enjoy a drink and take in the view is a day at the beach must. Ground level chairs and loungers are a great way to sit comfortably in the sand without blocking anyone else’s view of the water. Plus they are compact to store and easy to carry. Check out the range of beach chairs and loungers and special club prices at Anaconda. Also read the Always Adventure Ready Coconut Grove Beach Chair (pictured below) review here.
Sand Proof Blanket
Even though of course it’s expected we’ll encounter sand at the beach it’s nice to have some sand free space under you shelter. A sand proof blanket is the perfect surface for under your beach shelter for some sand free space. All you have to do is shake the blanket and the sand falls straight through. Check out the range and specials on sand proof blankets at Catch.
Sand Coasters
There’s nothing like sitting on the beach on a perfect sunny day with an ice cold drink, but where do you put it down? No problem when you have a sand coaster. These are not only perfect for holding your drink and making sure it doesn’t tip over in the sand, they can also keep small items like sunscreen and your phone out of the sand and on hand. Grab a few sand coasters to keep in your beach bag at Catch!
Food & Drink Cooler
A day out at the beach in the sun can be thirsty and hungry work. Taking plenty of food, snacks and drinks is a must for the perfect day out at the beach and of course you will want to keep it all cold. Check out the range of large and portable coolers at special club prices at Anaconda!
Sunscreen
You definitely can’t spend the day at the beach out in the sun without sunsreen. Because you’ll no doubt be in and out of the water and needing re-apply throughout the day it’s best to use a water resistant sunscreen that’s easy to re-apply. My favourite sunscreen is the Cancer Council Sports Sunscreen in the 500ml pump bottle. It’s SPF50+, is water resistant for 4 hours, doesn’t sweat into my eyes and is easy to re-apply with the big pump bottle. Check out the big range of sunscreens to choose one that suits your needs at Anaconada!
Sun Protection Clothing
Used in combination with shade and sunscreen, sun protection clothing is the best way to maximise your protection from the sun. Consider rashies, lightweight body suits, wetsuits and hats for your day out at the beach. Check out the big range and specials on rashies, body suits, wet suits and hats (including big name surf brands) at Catch!
Sting & Bite Relief
Unfortunately the potential for stings and bites while at the beach is a reality. There’s nothing like a bad sting or bite to ruin your day out at the beach, so be prepared and make sure you pack some sting and bite relief and also have ice packs ready to go in your cooler. (Please note: if you experience serious symptoms from a bite or sting, please seek medical attention). Insect repellant can also help prevent stings and bites in the first instance. Get sting and bite relief and insect repellant delivered to your door from Chemist Direct!
Beach Games
While a day at the beach is mostly about swimming, catching waves and relaxing, beach games are a great way to bring everyone together for some good old fashioned fun and laughs. Spikeball is the hottest game hitting the beach this year. It’s like handball but on the beach. Check out the range and specials on beach games at Catch!
Towels
Make sure you pack enough towels for everyone. Beach ponchos are also perfect for being able to relax, play, walk around and dry off at the same time. Also great for putting over you while changing in and out of wet clothing. They also offer some sun protection while you are drying off. Check out the range and specials on beach towels and ponchos at Anaconda!
Snorkelling Gear
Don’t get caught out on the perfect day at the beach where the water is flat and glassy and primed for snorkelling. While a day on the water at the beach is fun, being able to explore what’s underwater will turn your day out at the beach into a snorkelling adventure too. Check out the big range and club prices on snorkelling gear at Anaconda!
Waterproof Phone Case
Don’t miss out on grabbing some snaps of your day in or from the water, or even under the water by having a water proof pouch or case to put your phone in. Check out the range and specials on water proof phone pouches and cases at Catch!
Reef / Aqua Shoes
If you are going to a beach where the reef is exposed during a lower tide, then take a pair of reef / aqua shoes, so you can explore the intertidal zone – without cutting your feet! Check out the range and club prices on reef shoes at Anaconda!
Beach Wagon
Of course you are going to need something to cart all the things on your beach packing list to and from the car and the beach with a beach wagon. When selecting a beach wagon I recommend a wagon with large, wide wheels and one that is easily collapsable too. Check out the range and club prices on beach wagons at Anaconda!
