Manning Stairs and Lookout Hamilton Hill Perth

The Manning Stairs are located at the large Manning Park Reserve, Hamilton Hill and feature 192 steps that lead up to a beautiful lookout that also forms part of the Davilak Heritage Trail.

Whether you are looking for somewhere to enjoy an elevated view over Perth or for somewhere to enjoy some serious exercise, the Manning Stairs are popular with both tourists and exercisers a like.

There is a carpark within Manning Park that allows you to park right at the base of the Manning Stairs. Please note there are summer and winter vehicle access times to Manning Stairs and Lookouts.

If you are not keen to do all the steps in one go there are 5 landings and 4 bench seats on the way up so you can take a break and enjoy the view as you go.

At the top is an elevated lookout where you can enjoy a 360 view over the Darling Scarp and Cockburn Sound and the ocean. If you walk towards the ocean you’ll find another lookout with even more beautiful views of the ocean and over the Port Coogee and North Coogee areas.

The stairs and the lookouts form part of the Davilak Heritage Trail, which starts at the Azelia Lay Homestead and winds it’s way up the ridge towards the lookouts. Dogs are allowed on a lead on this trail so it’s a nice spot to take the dog for a walk amongst nature.

If you include a walk around Manning Lake, the full loop walks is around 3.6km. The track is a little rough around the ridge and there are some steep sections on the walk.

If you love exercising outdoors, hiking or just a good old nature walk, this is a Perth must. Whether you just take the walk up the stairs to the look out or walk all the way around the lake and Davilak Heritage Trail to the lookouts, it’s totally worth the visit. Toilets are located between the base of the stairs and the Azelia Ley Homestead. BBQs are located throughout the reserve and there is a large kids playground here too.
