Table of Contents
Where do the electric quad bike tours start from?
Tours start from the Eco Adventures Margaret River shed located at 110 Drummond Road, Forest Grove, approximately 17kms south of Margaret River. This is where we signed our waiver, got suited up with our riding gear and were allocated our quad bike for the tour. Our tour guide Adam gave us a quick instruction on how to operate the bike, all the do’s and don’ts and then we were on our way.
What age do you have to be to do the tour?
Anyone from 4 years can join in the tour, however to be a driver you must hold a valid drivers license or learner’s permit. Those who are younger or that don’t have a driver’s license can ride with a driver. Each electric quad bike can hold one passenger.
Do you need a drivers license to ride the electric quad bikes?
Yes. You do need to hold a valid driver’s license or learners permit to ride the electric quad bikes. This is because the electric quad bikes cross and drive along short sections of public roads during the tour. The electric quad bikes are licensed for road use.
What should I wear for the tour?
Enclosed footwear and long pants are recommended, however shorts are ok. Make sure you wear clothing and footwear you don’t mind getting a little dirty or muddy. I also recommend wearing sunglasses, otherwise googles are provided should you need to protect your eyes.
What should I bring on the tour?
Bring wet weather gear or additional clothing for warmth in the cooler and wetter months. Your phone / camera, sunscreen, some water and light snacks. There is a cooler box on each quad that you can put food, drink or other items in.
Are the electric quad bikes easy to ride?
The electric quad bikes are very easy to ride. You don’t even need to start them. They are ready to go with a simple press of the accelerator lever and a brake handle on the other side. That’s it.
What will I see along the way during the tour?
The guided tour took us on a journey through various Margaret River backdrops via the private properties that surround the Eco Adventures Margaret River shed. We saw parts of Margaret River we would never otherwise experience and wide variety of sceneries including tall trees, vineyards, dams, fruit trees, farm land and more.
We also encountered some wildlife along the way, including a mob of kangaroos while we drove the electric quad bikes through a vineyard and some emus in the distance as we returned back to the shed. Our Eco Adventures Margaret River guide Adam was very careful to keep us at a distance from any wildlife and to let them pass before we continued on.
Is there any challenging terrain on the tour?
You don’t need any motorbike riding skill but there were some parts that gave me a little bit of a thrill. I loved the water crossings, the bumpy tracks and muddy paths with tight turns.
How fast do the electric quad bikes go?
The electric quad bikes have been fully converted to electric and are capped at around 25km per hour.
Are there stops along the way?
There were a couple of short stops for a quick drink and snack while the guide took some photos with our phones / cameras. We also had several stops when opening and closing gates and crossing or travelling on public roads, which were great opportunities to grab some photos while we were stopped. Stops were only brief though as most of the tour time was spent riding.
When do the electric quad bike tours run?
Electric quad bike tours with Eco Adventures Margaret River run all year round, most days of the week. Places are limited on each tour and you can book either a driver only or driver plus passenger spot online before you arrive. This is a popular tour for larger groups so be sure to plan and book well ahead of time.
Eco Adventures Margaret River Electric Quad Bike Tour Summary
I thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend this tour if you are a lover of a little bit of adventure, no matter what your bike riding skill level. It provides a unique Margaret River experience and takes you to places you wouldn’t otherwise be able to access. The quietness of the bikes meant I could talk to my fellow riders along the way. I also loved hearing all the squeels of excitement from others in the group. It’s really good to know that our presense meant minimal disturbance to environment and wildlife too. A Forest Grove Trail Ride Tour with Eco Adventures is an absolute a Margaret River must for adventurers.
