Electric scooters are available to hire from –
- North of the river along the Scarborough Foreshore and surrounding City of Stirling area.
- South of the river electric scooters are available at the Rockingham Foreshore and surrounding City of Rockingham area.
- Perth City from over 80 locations. E scooter hire and park locations include Optus Stadium & Matagarup Bridge, Northbridge, West Perth, near Elizabeth Quay, Barrack Street Jetty and more.
You can find the nearest available electric scooter to hire in Perth by downloading the Nueron (Scarborough & Perth) Beam (Perth, Scarborough & Rockingham) and Bird Rides Australia (Perth) Apps and checking the map to see where the closest e-scooter is to your current location.
What times are electric scooters available to hire?
E scooters are available for hire 24 hours a day 7 days per week, however there may be locations and peak times where hire times are restricted. See the Nueron, Beam and Bird Rides Australia Apps for more information about electric scooter hire times in Perth.
How do I hire and pay for an electric scooter in Perth?
To hire an electric scooter on the Scarborough Foreshore or surrounding areas you will need to dowload the Nueron App. For electric scooter hire in Rockingham you will need to downlad the Beam App. For hire in Perth city download the Bird Rides Australia App. All apps are available from the App Store and Google Play. The e -scooter has a QR code that you scan using the app to unlock the scooter and start your ride.
Where do I park the scooter after I have finished riding?
When you have finished your ride, you put your helmet on the lock, take a photo of the e-scooter and end your trip in the app. Note: when riding in Perth city on a Birds Rides Australia scooter you will need to return your scooter to a designated e scooter parking site to end your ride. Designated e scooter parking sites can be found on the Birds Australia App so you can plan your ride.
How much does it cost to hire an electric scooter in Perth?
There is a $1 fee to unlock your e-scooter and then it’s 51c per minute (please check your app for up to date prices). You may also be able to get discounted day and multi day passes via the e scooter partner app.
How far can I ride the electric scooter I have hired?
The Nueron, Beam and Bird Rides Australia Apps show you the ride zone boundary where you can ride the electric scooter you have hired. If you move outside of this the electric scooter will power down and you won’t be able to end your ride charges. You will need to move your escooter into the ride zone boundary to continue or end your ride.
Is there anywhere I can’t ride an electric scooter?
The ride zone boundary map on the Nueron, Beam and Bird Rides Australia Apps identifies no ride zones. In Perth city, e-scooters are not allowed in the Murray and Hay Street Malls, Forrest Place, Kings Park, off paths in parks and other no ride zones as indicated on ride zone boundary maps.
How old do you have to be to hire an electric scooter?
To ride a Nueron e-scooter at Scarborough you are require to be 18 years+. Beam e-scooters in Rockingham require riders to be 16 years+ to hire and Bird Rides Australia requires riders to be 16 years + to hire.
Is it hard to ride an electric scooter?
Learning to ride an e-scooter is relatively easy. The app also provides instructions on controls and safety features. First practice away from traffic and pedestrians, when first having a go and until you feel more confident.
Am I covered insurance when I hire an electric scooter?
