Kwillena Gabi Pool Mandurah

The Kwillena Gabi Pool Mandurah (pronounced kwill-en-na gubb-ee) opened in December 2021 in the Mandurah Estuary. The traditional Binjareb Boodja owners chose the name which means “dolphin waters”. It is a welcomed addition to the Mandurah Eastern Foreshore and is located close to many of Mandurah’s popular attractions as well as the Mandurah Terrace dining precinct. Dolphin Quay is also only a short walk away.

Can you swim in Kwillena Gabi Pool all year round?

You can swim at Kwillena Gabi Pool all year round, however both day and night time temperatures are quite low in Mandurah during winter, in late autum and early spring. The pool is also effected by tides in the Mandurah Estuary which impacts water levels and the amount of water movement within the pool.

Can marine life get into the Mandurah Estuary Pool area?

There are no nets or barriers around the pool, so the floating pontoons that create the pool have minimal impact on the environment and marine life.

Can you access the pontoons from the pool?

You can jump into the water (feet first, no diving) from the pontoons in the deeper sections. There are ladders from the water to get back up onto the pontoons.

How deep is the pool?

The pool is up to 4.5 metres at it’s deepest point.

Can I get all the way around the pool without going in the water?

The pontoons go all the way around from the shore, so you can walk all the way around over the water.

Is there all abilities access to the pool?

There is an all abilities access ramp into the pool.

The Kwillena Gabi Pool is patrolled during peak times.

Is there beach access outside of the pool?

There is a sandy beach area alongside the Kwillena Gabi Pool.

Can I get public transport there?

The 588 & 589 bus runs from the Mandurah Train Station to the Eastern Mandurah Foreshore and back to the Mandurah Train Station via Mandurah Forum. It runs in a circular route daily (check the 588 & 589 Timetable for times). The train also runs to and from Perth to Mandurah everyday (check Mandurah to Perth Train Timetable for times).

What facilities are available at the Mandurah Estuary Pool?

Alongside the pool is a shaded and grassed picnic area, toilets, showers and picnic shelters. BBQs, local eateries and other attractions are located nearby also.
