There are lots of adventurous things to do on your way from Perth to Margaret River if you want to put a little fun into your down south road trip.

Lake Clifton Thrombalites

Jump out of the car and stretch your legs along the way with a walk on the board walk over the Lake Clifton Thrombalites. Lake Clifton is located just over an hour from Perth. Thombalites are believed to be one of the first life forms on earth. The Lake Clifton Thrombalites are over 2000 years old and are the largest in the southern hemisphere. Miami Bakehouse & Kanga Art Myalup

Stop at the Miami Bakehouse in Myalup and the Kanga Art (located at the Northbound services on the Forest Highway) while you enjoy a bakery delight. The Miami Bakehouse is both a foodie and art adventure. Endulge in declious award winning pies, cakes and gourmet food while wandering the life sized “Kanga Art” Kangaroos, painted by Western Australian Artists.

Crooked Carrot Myalup

Another perfect pit stop on your way from Perth to Margaret River is The Crooked Carrot Myalup. You can grab something to take with you on the drive or dine in to take a break from driving. Dine either indoors or outdoors in the huge backyard that features a refurbished 1920’s Melbourne Tram and big playground for the kids (and kids at heart). There’s lots to choose from on the menu from the super healthy to delicously naughty treats.

Dolphin Discovery Centre Bunbury

Pay the Dolphin Discovery Centre Bunbury a visit on your way to Margaret River. This interpretive centre is an immersive experience with 360 degree Digital Dolphinarium, interactive displays, aquariums and activites.  You’ll learn all about  regions marine environment and even interact with dolphins in the Beach Interaction Zone. You can also book yourself on an Eco Tour or perhaps jump in water and swim with the dolphins on one of the Dolphin Discovery Centre’s Dolphin Tours.

The interpretive centre and cafe is open daily and tours leave the centre daily during the peak season (bookings highly recommended).

 

 

Forest Adventures Busselton

From the ocean to the treetops. Take a couple of hours out from driving to take on the high ropes trees obstacle course at   Forest Adventures Busselton. With six obstacle courses of varying difficult, there is something for everyone (from 7 years of age) from the beginner right up to the dare devil! It’s just a short drive off the main road and you can book in for one of the many two hour sessions that run throughout the day.

 

Busselton Jetty

Walk or catch the train to the end of Busselton’s iconic 1.8km long jetty. You can purchase an all day walk pass or get a ticket for a return train rides  All proceeds go towards maintaining the beautiful Busselton Jetty. At the end of the jetty you can also enjoy entry to or a tour of the Underwater Observatory or you can get in the water to dive or snorkel or book an Undersea Walk or SCUBA tour.

Where are the best places to stay on the way to Margaret River?

Seashells Mandurah

Seashells Mandurah Beachside Apartments located in the Mandurah City Centre and walking distance to many of Mandurah’s attractions. Mandurah is one hour’s drive from Perth and approximately 1.5hours from Margaret River making it a good location to stay along the way to break up the drive.
