Inspiration for mid-lifers to choose their best adventurous life NOW!

South Perth Foreshore Round River Walk

Love a long, relatively flat, scenic walk? Then you will love this South Perth Foreshore Round River Walk. During the warmer months you can enjoy an acai smoothie bowl on your return from this 10km round walk. The South Perth Foreshore offers stunning views of the city and the Swan River and will definitely get you vibed for the 10km long walk ahead.

It’s recommended that you park at the Sir James Mitchell Park carpark. There are some free 4 hour parking bays and you can start your walk here along the South Perth Foreshore towards the Narrows Bridge (toilets are located here next to The Boatshed Restaurant). As you wander along the South Perth Foreshore you may see a Transperth ferry come into berth at the South Perth Mends Street Jetty. Here you will find the beautiful South Perth Piazza.

Continue past the South Perth Foreshore Piazza towards the Narrows Bridge. The Narrows Bridge stairs and ramp are best accessed by taking the footpath through the swamp / mini wetland area.

There is a stairway to the Narrows Bridge Walk Path as well as a ramp slightly to the south for pram or disabled access.

The walk across the Narrows Bridge is a little noisy, but the view of the South Perth Foreshore and Perth city is amazing! There is a toilet block at David Carr Memorial Park at the end of the Narrows Bridge and a water fountain is located here also.

Next destination is Elizabeth Quay. The walk trail takes you over the Elizabeth Quay Bridge and past The Bell Tower to the Riverside Drive Foreshore (toilets are located in front of The Bell Tower).

The Riverside Drive walk path continues on past the On The Point Restaurant Precinct (toilets are located here) and over the causeway to McCallum Park. There is a stairway down from the causeway to the McCallum Park Foreshore walk path as well as ramp access a little further down from the staircase.

Now you are on the home stretch back to the South Perth Foreshore where you can get yourself a delicious and cool acai smoothie bowl from The Acai Corner during the warmer months. The Acai Corner is a food truck that is located just a short stroll from the Sir James Mitchell Park playground. You can take your acai bowl to go or sit on the big grassed area and take in the spectacular view from the foreshore and look back over how far you walked.

Depending on your pace the walk will take between 1.5 – 2 hours. There is a sealed shared path all the way around (it does gets a little narrow on the bridges) suitable for walking, bikes, scooters, prams or wheelchair access. You’ll enjoy spectacular views of the city and the Swan River. The walk trail is mostly flat so aside from the distance it’s not too physically challenging.

You can choose to start at various other locations along the walk trail or you may like to go the other way around. I like doing the walk this way as it’s an easy place to park and the acai smoothie bowl is the perfect way to finish the walk.
